NEW - Sound healing sessions

We are super excited to have a new program starting up at ACC in Term 2 - Sound Healing with Keiko.

Our local friend Keiko will be running Sound Healing sessions on Wednesday evenings from 7.15pm for only $10 per session (a bargain).

If you haven’t ever experienced sound healing before it is amazing … just so so so relaxing. Crystal bowls are played intuitively, making each experience uniquely tailored to you, helping you feel more relaxed and at ease, while relieving stress and bringing you back to a more natural, balanced state.

To book in please contact Keiko directly via email, sounddroplet@tutamail.com. The first class will start on Wednesday 14 May.

Please note that you will need to bring your own yoga mat, pillow, blanket and water bottle, and that you should wear comfortable clothes.

Thriftseekers - the Northcote edition

We had a lovely time catching the 508 bus to High Street Northcote on Thursday 3 April and visiting the op shops. We caught the 10.05am bus from Alphington Station and started our op shopping adventure at Sacred Heart Mission Op Shop on the corner of Separation and High Street, then popped over to The Salvos, before heading down the road to Save The Children. We ducked into Mutal Muse (the consignment style shop just near Mitchell Street) … and then took a much-needed lunch break at Tao Dumplings for lunch and jasmine tea. Then we doubled back to the Northcote Uniting Op Shop, before jumping back on the 508 to Alphington Station (which took all of 8 minutes - amazing). Home by 2.10pm.

If you are looking for a great op shopping adventure this is a super one … and so easy by PT!

We’ve got 3 more great Thriftseekers trips planned for next semester - so keep an eye out for them! Special big thanks to the Clifton Hill/North Fitzroy Community Bank on Queens Parade for supporting us to run these local adventures this year.

Thanks everyone ...

So fun! We had another super busy and community oriented, family friendly Alphington Show on Saturday. And the ponies were amazing - weaving their way between the crowds and not reacting to the hoards of dogs …

We had 50 local entries in the Alphington Show - which was fabulous! We had at least one entry in every category and lots of new people enter who haven’t been to ACC before - we were chuffed to welcome new people to our facility.

And 40+ entries in the Dog Show - so no wonder it was a little bit crazy on our tiny corner! CWA sold out Devonshire tea. Our BBQ sold out of sausages and our craft and preserves stall did a roaring trade as well. Thanks to everyone who supported us through buying tickets to kids activities and eating etc.

And a special thanks to everyone who volunteered on the day - and all the staff who came along to help out. And the stallholders who were part of the market. We couldn’t do everything we do without you all.

Want to see the photos? Check them out below!

Kalimna did an amazing job capturing the event and then uploading photos on Saturday night. The photos start with the judging on Friday night and then the wonderful event on Saturday.

Thanks again everyone.

Cheers

This week

Our High Street Op Shop tour is coming up on Thursday 3 April - we’d love some company for this day of sustainable transport (we’ll take the bus) and sustainable shopping (second hand is the best.

Before that we have the Alphington Show coming up on Saturday 29th March. So I hope you have your knitting … and jam … and relish ready to go … and are perfecting your breadmaking or chocolate cake baking … so many great categories to enter.

Entries are to be dropped off this Friday before 5pm when the serious business of judging happens. Then on Saturday we’ll open the doors and invite the neighbourhood to pop in and admire the winners, enjoy a Devonshire tea served by the CWA … do a bit street shopping at the makers market, take a ride on a pony … have fun with craft … and hang around for the Alphington Dog Show - starting at 1pm. A great day of low key family neighbourhood fun!

And today - join us for lunch - our garden to plate program continues weekly! Help cook from 11.30am. We’ll wrap things up around 1pm. It’s free!

Also … Wednesday is playgroup day - and there are lots of families coming along this year which is terrific. If you are looking for some company for your little one (or yourself) please drop past from 10am-12pm in the front garden. Only $5 weekly.

See you this week … or at the Alphington Show!

Cheers

Op shop tour - for all the thrift seekers out there!

Thanks to some funding from Bendigo Bank we are going on a mid week Op Shop Tour, on Thursday 3 April. It is going to be fun. We’ll catch the 508 bus out the front of ACC to High Street, and explore the op shops, stop for coffee and lunch - and compare bargains! To join in just sign up here! It’s $5, but effectively free because we’ll use that to buy a coffee.

I love op shopping and I cant wait to head out on this sustainable (we’ll be taking PT AND buying second hand) adventure. We’ll meet at 10am here at ACC and then head out for the day. I hop you can come along!
