Life Journaling

Are you interested in learning how to document your life story?

Carmela Ferraro, an experienced journalist, has offered to run a life journaling workshop here.

Over 4 weeks she will lead you through the process of thinking about your life story, the early years, your career, family etc. She will help you get your story together in an interesting way.

You might like to write this up as a short story, or write the next best selling autobiography! Or incorporate the text into a photobook - the outcome will be up to you. Carmela will help you think about these options too.

The short course is a fabulous opportunity to get help to document the amazing unique life that each of us has had. And Carmela is very nice!

It costs $165 for 4 weeks, starting from Saturday 24 August, 10am-12pm. Book in here.

Pruning

The time has come to prune our fruit trees in our little urban orchard. Corrado and Keiko started on the apples along the back fence the week before last, and then moved on to the smaller trees along the boundary fence last week. We still have some to go … so if you are interested in tree pruning but a bit nervous you might like to come along and have a chat this Friday whilst we finish them off.

Gardening Group is part of our Friday Community Morning program. It runs from 10am-12pm.

Baby massage etc.

In local news, the Australian Breastfeeding Association has asked us to publicise an event they are running, a free baby massage session in Preston, as part of celebrations for World Breastfeeding Week.

The event will be held on Friday 9th August, 10am - 12pm at Donald Street Community Hall - 18 Donald St, Preston.

If you are interested in attending you will need to register, as there are space limitations.

You can book free tickets and find out more information from this link.

News

Ok. We seem to be getting under control for the term! And we had quite an exciting week last week.

It was lovely to have the chance to show Lizzie Blandthorn MP around our centre on Wednesday. And Kalimna took some super photos that we shared with her office!

On Thursday Lee and I did a big tidy up 🧹 around the Community Shed. This area is looking really super now with the workbenches in place and ready for use.

On Friday it was sad to say goodbye to Sue Kent - who has run Collingwood and Belgium Avenue Neighbourhood Houses for many years - I am sure she will love her retirement though!

We have a few things starting up this week here at ACC and classes and activities to book into for the rest of the year - check out our brochure.

Crunch is back on Thursday. We’d love to see you for lunch. Book in to come along.

We’ve had quite a few artists enter works into our Winter Arts Exhibition already - but we’d love more. So please don’t be shy if you have an artistic bent.

And of course Community Lunch is on Fridays at 12pm every week, following on from our community morning craft and gardening from 10am. We’ve had some new people come along this term which is super.

Thanks Margaret (from CWA) for your cooking of both main and desert on Friday … we loved your muffins and delicious orange cake 🍰- your baking truly made my birthday extra special!

Have a great week everyone.

Leanne
