Cheese Boards 101

Running from Thursday 1 August for 4 weeks from 10am-12pm, this course will introduce you to hand saws and planes and files, perhaps some drilling … and also teach you about finishing timber - including sanding, staining, oiling etc.

It will set you up to have more confidence to undertake basic timber maintenance or small timber projects around your home.

Mosaics 101

From Thursday 24 October for 4 weeks from 10am-12pm we’ll be running our Mosaics 101 again. In this course you’ll learn how to tile and grout … super handy skills around the home … whilst making something beautiful! Basic materials are provided, but we encourage you to go to the op shop or dig around at home and find some beautiful patterned ceramics that will make your creation(s) uniquely pop.

Whilst this class will start at the basics for anyone learning new skills - we’re also happy to help you keep exploring the wonderful world of mosaics if you have done it before - and are keen for some company and inspiration.

Have you always wanted to document your life through words - to tell your story for your children, or your grandchildren, because you have had a fascinating life … or just a normal one that you’d like to share?

We are excited to have journalist Carmela Ferraro coming to ACC for 4 weeks from Saturday 24 August (10am-12pm) to run Life Journaling - creating the opportunity for people in our community to learn how to start this process. Over the 4 weeks Carmela will guide you through the process - helping you explore your life stages, point you in the direction of resources, help you weave in documents and photos etc. etc.

If you have family doing VCE you might be interested in booking them in to our simulated exam experiences on Saturday mornings throughout October.

They can bring a practise exam paper or two along and we’ll provide 3 hours of strictly timed active supervision to help students:

• Get on with actually doing some practise exams

• Get used to managing their time in exams, and

• Feel more comfortable with formal exam conditions.

Last year our movie club met in the day. This semester we are going to try early evenings.

Our first date will be on Tuesday 16 July. We will meet at Westgarth Cinema (to take advantage of cheap Tuesday tickets) and then go somewhere local to chat about it afterwards - maybe Kelvins?

We generally find out the exact details of the movie times and what is showing the previous week - so it is a little bit rushed … Note that you are welcome to put your two bobs in if you have a preference for something you want to see.

Our new program Crunch (Creative Lunch) has been fabulous this term. We’ve met lots of lovely new people and reconnected with friends in the neighbourhood through the program.

Next semester Crunch will run for 6 weeks a term. On Thursdays from 12.30 til 2pm. For $15 you can come along for lunch and then enjoy an art experience with Lee.

You will need to book in on our website (just so we know how much food to make and how many paint brushes etc. to get out!). The dates will be added this week - if you are keen to book in early.
