News from our local schools
I went for a walk through the new housing estate in Alphington the other day - to change up my walking routine a little. I was being a little bit of a sticky beak - I have been wondering what is happening down there.
The answer is lots! Lots of new houses and lots of new families moving into the ‘hood.
As I wandered through admiring the street planting (it is quite lovely) I reflected that we are actually super lucky that both the local primary schools (Alphington and Fairfield) were on the front foot and lobbied hard for additional facilities - already you can see there’s going to be a growing need in the next few years!
So I was interested to see this media release this week outlining the investment to come and linking to concept plans for the new buildings at FPS and APS. Thanks Elena for sending it through!
The APS link provided the report on the community feedback that resulted in that school remaining one campus (rather than having a second campus in the new development site).
I was also interested to read that the new building at FPS that opened last year won an award. My youngest has had grade 5 and now grade 6 in there and it is great! And quite versatile.
Hopefully the new developments at both schools will be of the same quality!
